AN Okehampton resident will be raising money for a charity close to her heart when she takes part in the London Marathon next year.

Cathy Carey, 31, will be running the race for BLISS, a premature baby charity.

Cathy, whose niece and nephew were both born prematurely, will be holding two events to help raise funds for her to take part in the race.

A pub quiz will be held on Friday, October 9 from 7.30pm at Pretoria Vaults, Okehampton.

The event will be for teams of four people and will cost £10 per team.

There will also be a party on Friday, October 23 at 7.30pm in Sampford Courtenay village hall.

Everyone is welcome to come along to the event, which will have a theme of whatever you would wear to the London Marathon.

An auction will be held at the party, where guests will have the chance to win a holiday at Sandy Bay Holiday Park, a one-night stay and dinner for two at Bovey Castle, half-day sea fishing, and more.
