Bridestowe Garden Club held its fifth annual garden show on Saturday September 6 in the new village hall.
Entries were up on last year, despite atrocious weather prior to the show, the turnout was good and the standard excellent.
Judges Brian Wonnacott and Pat Andrews were impressed with the standard of exhibits. They praised all entrants for their hard work and effort to produce an excellent show. Special thanks went to a young man who had entered the runner bean class and far outshone the adults!
They were especially impressed with the children's entries, which were up on last year. The committee was pleased to encourage young ones into appreciating the garden.
The show committee was also pleased with the entries from a membership of only 36.
During the judging there was a social afternoon with refreshments and trade stalls selling plants, seeds and home-made jams.
Non-members are welcome at the meetings; the next is on Thursday October 9 in the Methodist Hall at 7.30pm, to include a talk on roses by Roy Halsey, an RHS judge. If you want any questions on roses do come along.
