MEDIAEVAL music was the theme at a recent concert aimed at raising funds for a new village hall in Whitchurch.

St Eustachius Church in Tavistock welcomed the group Lammas who entertained the crowd with music and poetry from the middle ages and raised more than £1,000 in the process. Members of the audience included Tavistock mayor Mrs Norma Woodcock and her consort Mr Gerry Woodcock.

Prebendary John Rawling acted as host having kindly provided the venue for the evening.

Organiser Ann Keelan was very pleased with the interest generated by the concert.

She said: 'Mediaeval music is something out of the ordinary.

'I am delighted that we can enjoy it live in such an appropriate setting and at the same time raise funds for the hall.'

In addition to an enjoyable concert guests were treated to a sneak preview of plans for the new hall which include modern facilities and disabled access.

Building work on the hall is due to start this year and when completed the facility will be available for use by the whole community.
