MY WIFE, daughter and I were standing on the south side of West Street enjoying the carnival parade on Saturday evening when, without any warning, my teenage daughter was hit in the shoulder with a raw egg.

Apart from having her clothes splattered with raw egg, she was left shocked and upset and in some pain. She then missed most of the rest of the parade as she had to return to her grandfather?s flat to wash and change her clothes.

As visitors to Tavistock from Scotland we can?t understand why the

cowardly yob who threw the egg singled out my daughter for attack. She doesn?t know anybody in Tavistock other than her grandfather.

Many people had obviously worked hard to make the carnival parade a success. It?s a pity that, as we leave Tavistock, our thoughts are dominated by this most unpleasant experience rather than the carnival.
