TAVISTOCK Tourist Information Centre has taken delivery of 20 MP3 players that can be borrowed by walkers and cyclists to listen to the Drake's Trail podcasts as they stroll or pedal their way around West Devon.

The podcasts were created in March, thanks to a joint project between Tavistock College, West Devon Borough Council and Aune Head Arts.

The new MP3 players have been purchased with the help of Greater Dartmoor Local Enterprise Action Fund and will make it easier for trail users to find out more about the places that they walk and cycle through.

Richard Povall from Aune Head Arts will be on hand on Monday July 27 to demonstrate how the MP3 players work and also chat about how podcasts are made, as he guides a walk along Tavistock Canal.

West Devon Borough Council is hosting a number of guided walking and cycling events this summer allowing visitors and residents the chance to use some of the new Drake's Trail routes with the benefit of local guides.

Events in the near future include walks led by the Tavistock Walk and Talk leaders tomorrow (Friday) and Monday August 3, both leaving from St Paul's Church, Yelverton.

The Tavistock Ramblers group will also be leading a walk on Friday August 7, and Dartmoor enthusiast and author Paul Rendell will be leading a walk on Friday July 31.
