RUGBY hopeful Jo McBain, who plays for North Tawton, was in the team which turned on the style for the Women?s England Select XV in a friendly game against Sweden last Friday (April 14). Jo picked up an injury during the England Under-19s tour of Canada which ruled her out of the games, so the match will present a timely opportunity to impress the national coaching team. After making a slow start, the select XV soon settled into their game eventually running out 36-5 winners. England Womens Academy coach, Gary Street said the match gave him the chance to look at players like previously injured Jo. Mr Street said: ?This is their chance to impress whilst for other players it is their chance to gain some pitch time and experience at an international level.?
