PERMISSION has been granted by West Devon planners for a railway engine workshop at the Morwellham Quay visitor attraction.
The application was made by West Devon Borough Council and was for the storage of the railway engines and to allow for minor repairs to the trains which form part of the attraction.
The building would be situated at the end of the mine railway and be of a utilitarian design which reflected the character of the traditional buildings, council officers told planning committee members this week.
Support was given to the proposal because it would enable improvements to an existing tourism facility.
