THE last event from a six-week programme for the parishioners of St Eustachius Church and the Tavistock community will be taking place this weekend. ?Called to Care? was aimed at encouraging those outside and inside the church to care for the world in a host of ways. The ?commitment and thanksgiving? event is being held tomorrow (Friday) and on Sunday. In preparation for the final Sunday of the programme, a prayer vigil in church will be staged tomorrow at 6pm, then every hour until 9pm. Each hour will consist of reflections, prayers, music and silent prayer. Sunday will be a day of commitment and thanksgiving. Parishioners will have the opportunity to say what they care about, and what they would like to care for, at the 9.45am service. The Rev Michael Brierley said: ?People of Tavistock have been moved by the parish church programme, and in its final week are being encouraged to give something of themselves to the world, the church, and God. ?The last six weeks have seen a series of presentations on what people feel called to do, interspersed with opportunities for quiet reflection. ?We?re still welcoming people into this programme. The responses are already coming in, and show that the programme has really got people thinking.? ?Many of us have been especially moved, by hearing people talk about their journey of faith, how faith affects their work, and how faith has led them to care in new ways. ?It?s totally inspiring, and shows that this final Sunday of the programme isn?t really an end at all, but only a beginning.?
