THE?passing of Miss Doris Gwendoline Maunder on November 3, at Yelverton Nursing Home was in its way the end of an era in Mary Tavy. She was just three weeks short of her 93rd birthday.

Doris was born at Lower Kingsett Farm in Horndon then eventually moved to Walford House in Mary Tavy where she lived for 60 years.

She became a local preacher in the Methodist church in 1958, superintended the Sunday school at Zoar Chapel for many years and touched and had an influence on many lives.

Many of her friends gathered at her funeral service of thanksgiving at the Mary Tavy chapel on November 18 conducted by her good friend the Rev Jeff Moles.

Another close friend Rosemary Turner sang a beautiful solo and tributes were given to this amazing lady. The presence of seven other of our local preachers and 75 family and feiends spoke for itself. Rest in Peace Doris.
