ELEVEN new cadets were enrolled into Okehampton St John Ambulance Brigade at the group's annual inspection recently.
The enrolment was carried out by six officials, including county president Ivan Pollard and Roger Jacob, the assistant county commissioner.
During recent months the cadets in the Okehampton brigade have been working hard to obtain their animal care proficiency qualification, with the help of local vet Briony Herrod-Taylor, of the North Park Veterinary Group.
They have also passed their radio communication standard with a member of Dartmoor Rescue Group and are now working on their knowledge of the St John order and start a first aid course at the end of the month.
In addition to gaining awards and qualifications, the cadets also have fun on a variety of activities including kayaking, abseiling, ice-skating and camping.
Anyone who would like to learn more about St John Ambulance is very welcome to join the regular Wednesday evening meeting between 6.30pm and 7.15pm in their Mill Road premises.
