A WORLD of wonderment, music and magic is enticing people to the Wharf this month as theatrical band, The Adventures of . . . presents its Rock 'n' Roll Circus and Cabaret show.

The Tavistock-based band will wow audiences with their storytelling songs, eccentric performance and West End-style show.

Adam Hanington, Will Gee and Drew Wright, known collectively as The Adventures Of . . ., are an indie rock group hosting a show, which is unlike a normal gig.

The band are based around the concept of a circus and cabaret show, with the songs telling the tale of a love story set in a strange travelling fair.

The Rock 'n' Roll Circus and Cabaret show will include a Victorian electrocution act by the Great Voltini and Nurse Electra, a burlesque dancer Beatrix von Bourbon, a juggling act named Elfie and a French waiter, among others.

Singer and guitarist Adam, said the idea of the show is to bring the rock 'n' roll circus to life: 'We welcome the visitors into the travelling fair, so the audience come into the world that the concept exists in.

'We've put on five or six big shows now, and every time we do it, we like to get a few new acts. We have hosts to guide the audience through the evening, and we play in between each act. People are encouraged to come in fancy dress and some of the acts involve audience participation.'

In the interval, the audience get a chance to meet and talk to the performers, while enjoying a bbq, and when they are invited back in, they get to see the darker side of the fair, where 'all hell breaks lose'.

The Rock 'n' Roll Circus and Cabaret Show will take place at The Wharf in Tavistock on April 16, doors open at 8pm. Tickets can be bought in advance for £10 from The Wharf box office on 01822 611166 or on the night at £12.
