TWO Tavistock College sixth form students are raising money to go on an expedition to Borneo this summer.
Tom Barton and James Bartlett are holding a race night on Saturday, May 13 at St Paul’s Church Hall in Yelverton from 7pm to 10pm.
In total, they need to raise £4,500 each to be able to go on the trip, which is organised by Camps International.
During the four weeks that they will be in Borneo, they will be working on environmental and school projects, which include fighting deforestation and helping with community projects.
They will also visit the world renowned Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary, where orphaned and injured orangutans are kept before they are released back into the wild.
The race night is the lad’s final fundraising event. There will be around eight horse races that can be bet on, and a raffle at the end of the night.
Prizes include a three-course dinner at the award-winning Glaze Brook House Hotel.
