FLORAL art by children at Okehampton Primary School is currently on display at the Museum of Dartmoor Life.

The exhibition, entitled Floral Wonder, looks at the way artists portray the beautiful and vibrant world of flowers.

Teacher Luna Redhead, herself an artist, worked with 60 children aged between nine and 11 at the school in a series of art and sculpture workshops.

They studied the work of other artists and then learned paint techniques to create their own work.

A total of 48 painted canvases and 12 sculptures are being exhibited in the museum’s John Young Gallery until September 1.

The exhibition has been sponsored by the Arts Society Dartmoor, Dartmoor Multi Academy Trust and Okehampton Photo Centre.

The children’s pride in their work can be seen in these pictures taken by Times photographer James Bird at the launch recently.

Pictured are the children with their work along with Okehampton dignitaries, family members and teachers who were also invited.
