TWELVE teams from seven schools took part in the annual Tavistock Area Schools Tag Rugby Tournament, which took place at Tavistock Rugby Club recently.

Pool one had Tavistock, Horrabridge A and C, Meavy A and Bere Alston A and B. Tavistock were the only unbeaten team, winning four and drawing one and went through to the cup matches in the afternoon along with Bere Alston A, who came second in the pool. Bere Alston A and Horrabridge A were third and fourth respectively and progressed to the trophy. Bere Alston B and Horrabridge C would go on to contest the vase.

Pool two had Whitchurch, St Peter’s, Lamerton, Bere Alston C, Horrabridge B and Meavy B. Whitchurch won all their pool games and went through to the cup with second placed Lamerton. Meavy B and Horrabridge B went through to the trophy and Bere Alston C and St Peter’s the vase.

Bere Alston B met Horrabridge C in the final of the vase and emerged as the winners. Meavy A beat Horrabridge A in the final of the trophy and Whitchurch took the cup after playing Tavistock.

Whitchurch, Tavistock, Lamerton and Bere Alston A represented the Tavistock area at the West Devon finals, also at Tavistock RFC, held yesterday (April 2).
