GERRY Smith (Letters, September 20) reckons it is a myth that real Mancunians are City fans. I was under the impression that is was more fact than myth, being as how Man United are from Salford, not Manchester.
Recent correspondence begs the question, why do Man U fans feel so persecuted? Every clubs' fans get stick from others over some issue or other, perhaps the response of Man U fans suggests that there is more than a little truth to the insults hurled at them?
As a long suffering Exeter City fan I wouldn't think twice about having the whole nation giving me stick in exchange for winning just about everything in sight!
After all, we've spent the last several seasons being regularly humbled by the likes of Swansea and Cardiff and, if I can bear to mention them, those green shirted footballers from south Devon.
Sounds to me like Man U's fans could do with a little humble pie, after all they don't seem to be very happy, even with all their success over recent years.
