JUST over four tonnes of rubbish was collected overnight in Tavistock following the annual Goose Fair festivities – and a third has been recycled.

As the thousands of fairgoers left the town last Wednesday, a team of West Devon Borough Council contract workers moved in early next morning to clean up.

They collected 4.1 tonnes of waste and a third was able to be recycled thanks to special recycling bins put out by the borough council and cardboard put to one side by thoughtful eco-friendly traders.

The big clean-up was completed just before 7am on Thursday.
