Tavistock Women U18s 10
Liskeard/Taunton 34
TAVISTOCK entertained a combination team from Liskeard and Taunton at Sandy Park and spectators were treated to open and expansive rugby by two competitive teams.
The away team aided by the slope and a strong wind put points on the board early, kicking for position, and then using the threequarters to batter the Tavistock line.
Tavistock did not help themselves, ineffective rucking and dropped balls gave away any decent attacking positions, and the visitors were only too grateful to accept.
Soon Tavistock found themselves 24 points down but the score was made a little more respectable with Kirsty Mcall powering over in the corner just before half time.
Tavistock in the second half were a totally different team, they used the wind and kicked for position, pinning Liskeard in their own half for long periods, the rucking was much improved and the commitment given was second to none, and all of this work was rewarded with a try by player of the match Clara Nielson, who because of injuries, started the game at number eight, and finished playing at scrum half.
Ellie Wallace made the tackle of the match late in the second half when left stranded in a one on one situation but held her ground to make a certain try saving tackle.
