Devon seconds A
Tavistock seconds v Bradninch seconds
TAVISTOCK, batting first, were soon in trouble when Goodchild was caught behind for four. Phil and Jamie Stephens began the rebuilding effort and made steady progress getting to 70 by the half way stage of 23 overs before Jamie Stephens was caught at mid on mistiming a drive. Phil Stephens and John McGahey soon followed to make it 80-3. The rest of the Tavistock batting just melted away in array of poor shots only Phil Stubbs and Sam Willetts dragged Tavistock passed the 100 mark.
111 to win was a meagre total but Tavistock were not going to make it easy, it took Bradninch five overs to get off the mark with a wide. At 23 overs they had only 43 on the board. Drinks often brings a wicket and this was no exception the ball was driven off Jeffery into the hands of Jamie Stephens at cover point. However, this was a false dawn and Tavistock then dropped five catches.
Tavistock never gave up as shown by the diving catch taken by Keeper Goodchild off a deserving Downham, but is was too late and Bradnich won in the 41st over.
Bradninch (19pts) beat Tavistock (2pts) by eight wickets.
