Yelverton seconds v Bideford seconds

YELVERTON seconds drew with Bideford seconds at a damp Langton Park on Saturday, with the game reduced to 25 overs per side due to the rain.

Home skipper Chris Pearson won the toss and asked Bideford to bat.

Veteran Tony Carter struck early on having Bradbeer caught behind for 13. Bideford skipper Jon Weeks followed soon after bowled for 20 by Carter (2-31).

A Crisp and the hard hitting P Stevens put on a quickfire 39 for the third wicket before Stevens was caught by Pearson at long-on off the bowling of Dan Cooper. Fourth wicket pair, Crisp and McMillan put on 49 before McMillan fell to an excellent catch by Tom Noble on the deep midwicket boundary of the the bowling of Andy Taylor. Crisp was joined by Binns and the pair took Bideford's total up to 176-4 which allowed skipper Jon Weeks to declare two overs early in the hope of giving his bowlers more overs at the Yelverton batsmen.

Andy Taylor and Gul Khan opened the innings for the Bohemians, but Khan was bowled by Willcocks for 2.

Chris Cottrell joined Taylor in the middle but after the pair had put on 48 Cottrell was forced to retire hurt with groin injury. Veteran Gerry Keen came and went for 7 to leave the Bohemians on 57-2 and a long way even from securing their first batting point.

Terry Leonard joined Taylor and added a further 27 before Taylor (29) was caught behind of a top edged sweep.

Leonard with help from Noble (6) and Dan Cooper (3no) got the Bohemians up to 105-4 when the overs ran out. Leonard remained unbeaten on 28no.

Yelverton seconds (3 points) drew with Bideford seconds (12pts).
