A TOURISM organisation based in Okehampton has announced the winner of its Dartmoor photography competition.
The contest organised by the Dartmoor Partnership invited amateur photographers to take pictures with the aim of showing the moorland at its most spectacular. The winning image, entitled 'Bellever' was taken by Neil Porter.
The winner was chosen by professional photographer Tony Cobley, who said: 'This image has it all. Atmosphere, drama, depth, perspective, colour and dynamic composition.'
Neil wins a day's photography workshop with Tony Cobley Photography, along with having his work displayed on the Dartmoor Partnership's website.
The Dartmoor Partnership has been promoting the area and supporting local businesses for more than 30 years as the Dartmoor Tourist Association.
In March 2008, the DTA joined forces with West Devon Borough Council, the Dartmoor National Park Authority and the Duchy of Cornwall to form the Dartmoor Partnership, aided by funding through Devon Renaissance.
Will Allan from the Dartmoor Partnership said: 'We wanted to start connecting with people who use and photograph this stunning landscape.
'So many people have a passion for the moors and take the most spectacular images, so what better way to share them with everyone else than having them appear on our website?
'For us we can use the images to showcase a Dartmoor that perhaps people weren't previously aware of.
'Neil's images were so outstanding that they are already appearing on the main pages of our website and within our Dartmoor Guide.'
