TIMES readers have been invited to put their brains to the test with a written cryptic quiz to help raise funds for the Children's Hospice South West's Precious Lives Appeal.

The quiz includes 50 cryptic clues for readers to solve with all answers being either a boy or girl's name.

There will be cash prizes for three winners and one prize winner will also be drawn at random from all entrants who do not win one of the three main prizes.

Devised by Gunnislake resident Les Rendell, the quiz is supported by the Rotary Club of Callington, and Barclay's Bank will be sponsoring the event, matching pound for pound up to £750.

Anyone who thinks they can conquer the cryptic clues can download the quiz from http://www.callington.rotary1290.org">www.callington.rotary1290.org or send a sae to Les Rendell, 1 Chequer Tree Court, Drakewalls, Gunnislake, PL18 9DW.

All entries should be sent, with a minimum donation of £1 by cheque made payable to Callington Rotary Club Precious Lives Appeal Account, to the above address by November 30.
