Duchy Premier Lamerton 1 Polperro 2 UNBEATEN at home in the league last season, Lamerton have quickly come down to earth in this season?s Premier division. Lamerton conceded two goals just before the break, in identical and comedic fashion. The first was a mix up between Paul Breyley and Pete Daniel and with added hesitation, Polperro player manager Simon Fisher was allowed to score. He couldn?t believe his luck through Lamerton?s generosity, yet sixty seconds later, it all happened again, as the striker, astonishingly, latched onto another through ball and again, scored with ease. It was a mad five minutes of self destruct in a lack lustre half with stand-in Richard Searle being the only man to ignite some quality for the home side. Lamerton battled well in the second half as Polperro allowed them long spells of possession. Pete Broomfield went close on two occasions and Searle was a constant threat. It was young Simon Kelly, on from the bench for his first appearance, who finally got a fight back started. His pace saw him caught on the by-line, inside the box. The referee pointed to the spot and as the Lamerton players looked glumly at each other, it was decided the new man Kelly should finish off what he had earned. Unfortunately, he blasted the penalty over the bar. Polperro would feel justified, with their earlier claims for a blatant penalty being overlooked. Lamerton did get a deserved goal seven minutes from time. Swift, finally in second gear, provided a good cross which was guided into the top corner by Searle?s side footed volley. Saturday: away to Gunnislake, 2.30pm.
