Carlsberg South Western League
Tavistock 1
Bodmin Town 4
THE Lambs found themselves behind to an early goal. The ball was not cleared from a corner and when it was returned into the area Ryan Cross?s header came off a post and Andy Watkins reacted the quickest to tap into an empty net - keeper Andy Meeds was injured after colliding with an upright.
The Lambs? best spell came minutes before half-time when they created three good chances with Paul Smith blasting over, Westlake hitting the side-netting after a solo run and Parr heading straight at the keeper.
But there was still time for the visitors to snatch a second on the stroke of half-time. Tom Barwell held onto the ball for too long in midfield to be robbed and a quick breakaway down the flank by Watkins allowed Daniel Nancarrow to stab in at the far post.
Meeds came into his own in the second half with a string of saves that kept the Lambs in the game before Bodmin got their third with ten minutes left. Watkins got to the by-line again to square the ball for Sullivan to slot home.
The Lambs replied five minutes later as Richard Searle swept home Paul Adcock?s cross. Watkins added a fourth right on time when his fierce shot from an acute angle squirmed under Meeds to end a dismal evening for the Lambs.
Penzance 2
Tavistock 1
THE Magpies of Penzance had former Plymouth Argyle star Lee Phillips who is out on loan to Weymouth in their starting line up while the Lambs paraded Andy Cole, unfortunately not from Blackburn Rovers but Plymouth Civil Service.
The Lambs took the game to the home side from the off and almost went into the lead as Paul Adcock chased a lost cause to retrieve the ball near the corner flag. He sent in a cross that Cole got a touch to only to see the ball cleared off the line. Phillips got clear of the Lambs defence after 15 minutes but Andy Meeds did well, coming off his line to block his shot. Hoskins put in a great last-ditch tackle to prevent a shot on goal near the interval before the home side squandered a good chance with Britten firing over from close range.
Penzance opened the scoring ten minutes into the second half as Phillips raced clear from the Lambs defence, rounded Meeds and went tumbling for the referee to point to the spot. Phillips saw Meeds get a hand to the penalty, but could not prevent it going in.
Eight minutes later confusion reigned as Meeds? shout to Nathan Blamey to clear went unheeded and Dave Burt got between defender and keeper to stab home from an acute angle.
The Lambs got a goal back five minutes later when Adcock was fouled in the area for Blamey to make amends from the spot, but it was too little too late to salvage anything from the game.
