REGULARS at the Taw River Inn at Sticklepath gathered last Friday to celebrate being named pub of the year for the second year running. The accolade comes from the North Devon branch of CAMRA which praised the pub for its convivial atmosphere, selection of ales and good value prices. Landlord Paul Jones who has run the pub with his wife Sue for the last seven years said it was very pleasing to win the award two years in a row, but he was hoping to notch a hat-trick of wins next year. To mark the occasion, a number of local breweries chipped in to offer free drinks to loyal customers. A barbecue was also held, raising around £120 for Devon Air Ambulance and there was also a live band providing music.
