Carlsberg South Western League

Newquay 0

Tavistock 2

THE first 20 minutes saw little goalmouth action but the Lambs opened their account soon after with Doncaster seizing on poor midfield play from Newquay to go past two defenders before slotting the ball wide of keeper Dave Wilton.

The Lambs took charge of the remainder of the first half and could have easily added to their score. Chris Gott?s volley was blocked, Kirkup saw his header tipped onto the bar by Wilton, Smith saw his shot flash past a post, and on the stroke of half time Doncaster rounded the keeper but his hasty shot sailed over the bar.

After the break with the wind behind them the home side took the initiative and forced a succession of corners but the Lambs defence held firm. Wilton came to the Peppermints? rescue when he stole the ball off Doncaster as the striker took one touch too many before attempting to shoot.

From a Lambs? corner Paul Adcock saw his effort blocked near the line but unfortunately by one of his colleagues. The nearest the home side came to scoring was from a long clearance out that saw Middleton hit a first time volley that Andy Meeds did well to hold.

The keeper then got injured after a late tackle and had to receive lengthy treatment but was able to continue.

The Lambs were not to be denied a second goal and in injury time Nick Campbell?s back pass against the wind was intercepted by Doncaster to slide the ball one side of the keeper and go around the other to put it into an unguarded net.
