FURZEPARK Cross near Winkleigh will be home to the second Dowland Country Fair and Dog Show, following the success of last year's inaugural event.

There will be a wide range of events, with a blacksmith and working forge, exotic animals, dog and ferret racing, a fun dog agility course, sheep shearing, bee-keeping, willow weaving and more.

The dog show will feature the North Wales terrier and lurcher champion of champions 2011 qualifier. Judging for the terrier show, lurcher show and the family dog show starts at 2pm, and entry costs £1 per class.

Ferret owners will have the chance to show their pets, with the ferret show judging starting at midday.

Suffolk Punch horses will be at the show, with the opportunity to see them groomed and plaited at 11am in preparation for cart rides throughout the day. There will also be flying displays from birds of prey.

There will be an all-day barbecue, cream teas, ice-creams, a bar and a grand prize draw, the day should be a wonderful day out for all the family.

Entry is £2 for adults and £1 for children, free for under 5s. For those finding Furzepark Cross by sat-nav, the postcode is EX19 8PG. For more information and event schedules, call Susan Folland on 01805 804347.
