A DOG which had become trapped in a rabbit warren wa rescued by Okehampton firefighters last Sunday. Two appliances from Okehampton were called out to the dog trapped in a warren close to the railway embankment at Fatherford Viaduct at 7.15pm. The dog?s owner had been unable to coax the animal out and so firefighters used a thermal imaging camera to locate the pet and them dig him out. The dog was freed after around an hour and was in good condition, despite the ordeal. l Firefighters from Okehampton were among 14 crews across Devon who were called to the scene of a major fire at a five-storey block of flats in Sidmouth. The fire broke out at around 8.30am on Saturday and as it spread, crews from further afield were requested to attend. One fire appliance from Okehampton joined colleagues from across the county at the scene at noon and returned to Okehampton around seven hours later. l North Tawton firefighters were called out to wash away petrol following a road accident outside Bow Aquatic Centre. One crew from North Tawton attended the scene last Friday afternoon.
