SINCE the story about the council's new 'crackdown' on dog fouling (September 13) I have rung the council six times about the same two piles of dog's mess.

Each time I have repeated my name, address and the location and both times the dog's mess remained there untouched. No-one came to clear it up.

The first time I rang I was told by the person who answered that the council were 'concentrating on prevention not cure'. When I suggested that dog mess left on the pavement encourages others to let their dog foul the same area, she laughed and said, 'Well, they'd have to be strange people who would do that!'. What a ridiculous attitude!

On the third time of ringing about the second pile of mess I was told it had already been tidied up and this must be 'another lot'. I walk past it every day with my children and it has not been picked up.

In the 19 days since the 'crackdown' article was published I have come across at least seven piles of dog mess in the relatively small area of town I walk in. We need more dog bins and more street cleaning. In the article the public are asked to help and directed to the 'Report it' section of the council website. In my recent experience reporting it has had absolutely no effect whatsoever. Except, of course, costing me money on my 'phone bill.
