Do you know of the squire?

AN interesting article in the current issue of the Bere Link magazine entitled 'Bere Local History Group' mentions an extremely unpleasant character called Squire Carvel whose lifetime was spent in the Buckland and Buckfastleigh areas.

It is believed by some devotees of the writer Sir Arthur Conan Doyle that this author based his classic novel 'the Hound of the Baskervilles' on Squire Carvel, ie, in particular, Sir Henry Baskerville and Sir Richard Baskerville.
