ORGANISERS planning an exhibition in July recording the past 200 years of Germansweek are asking readers if they can help to contribute to the event's success. Alan and Jean Smithers, said the event follows two similar ones about ten years ago — this latest one will not only provide a fascinating recollection of village life but will also be of benefit to the local church. Alan said; 'We are looking for different photographs of people, places and events from the village. We just need to borrow them for two minutes to copy them. There is a library of more than 2,000 pictures on the village over the last 150 years, plus reams of written material — like old receipts, letters, postcards, bills — anything that relates to the life of the village. It doesn't matter what condition the pictures or written items are in and any pictures of people that lived in the parish would be welcome. 'If you can help at all, it doesn't matter if just a photo of a chimney on a house, it all can be of help building the jigsaw of years gone by. If you can help ring Alan and Jean on 01837 871314.
