A FUNDRAISING dinner for the Duke of Edinburgh gold expedition and residential project in South Africa raised a massive £1,233 last Saturday at Okehampton Rugby Club. Guests included mayor of Okehampton Tony Leech and his wife, Sue, county and borough councillor Christine Marsh and family, friends and supporters. The evening comprised South African cuisine followed by an introduction of the group by Duke of Edinburgh Award leader Chris Bourne. Each of the nine members spoke about what they were looking forward to. There was a draw and music by Boanerges — The Sons of Thunder.
