THE sound of one of the oldest school bells in Devon can be heard again at South Tawton Primary School thanks to the work of local builder Julian Pillar.
The school is one of the last in the county where the tradition of the school bell to mark lesson time and break time has been continued and it is one that is highly valued locally.
l Pupils at the school have been busy drawing Christmas scenes and the winning designs will appear soon on Christmas cards.
Responsible for the winning designs this year were Charlie Holmes (Class R), Emily Boother (Class 1), Maddy Weaver (Class 2), Grace Davey (Class 3), Sam Thomas (Class 4), Isobel Tilley (Class 5) and Catherine Souness (Class 6.)
Sponsors of the school's cards included governors, friends and many local businesses.
