VISITORS from across the South West came to Tavistock's Pannier Market over the bank holiday weekend for the ninth garden festival.
The event, with the theme of 'Dig for Victory' to tie in with the Tavistock 1943 weekend, had displays from five nurseries — Hidden Valley Nurseries, Tresedders Nurseries, Barracott Plants, Tartendown Nurseries and Wendy Hicks Plants.
Visitors were also entertained by Border Morris dancers, and demonstrations on 'no nonsense container gardening' by Christine Walkden, a regular on Gardener's Question Time and the BBC's One Show.
The coveted 'Golden Trowel' award was presented by town mayor Cllr Harry Smith and mayoress Mary Smith to Geoff and Thelma Turner from Barracott Plants in Gunnislake for their display.
Special thanks were expressed to pupils at Mary Tavy and Brentor Primary School who put on a great display of mini gardens and showcased some of the work on world war two they have been doing over the past couple of months.
