AN appeal was this week issued by Tavistock Muscular Dystrophy Group, which is trying to contact people who have helped the MD campaign in the past.

Alison Carreck said the group is keen to try and track down anyone in the Tavistock and West Devon area who have helped with the annual Tavistock MD group holiday.

She said: ?We are keen to find as many of those who have helped over the 35 years the holiday has been running as possible. We?re planning to meet up in the autumn and remember the fun of past holidays and look through a selection of old photographs.?

Mrs Carreck said the holiday started at Coads Green, before moving to the Molly Owen Centre in Tavistock for many years. The Tavistock MD group organises holidays for boys with a particularly severe form of MD, who often have a short life expectancy.

?More recently, the group has been taking youngsters, who sadly have MD, to venues including Taunton, Norfolk, Wales and Hampshire,? said Mrs Carreck.

This year, 17 youngsters and volunteer helpers will be visiting Alton in Hampshire for a week of fun, which will also provide respite for their families and carers.

She said over the years people had helped these holidays in a variety of ways, caring for the youngsters, cooking, cleaning or driving.

The group would love to hear from any of these people with a view to a social get-together ? call 01822 810868 or e-mail [email protected]">[email protected] for details.
