I LIVE in Scotland and last Thursday (June 23) I was out for a cycle ride when I met John. All I know is that John lives in Tavistock, survived cancer and that he had cycled from Land's End to John O'Groats for his cancer charity.
When I met him he was cycling back home to Tavistock but he had a mechanical problem with his rear wheel, making it very hard to even cycle downhill. He was desperately trying to get to Lockerby where he was told he could get his wheel repaired.
Knowing that this was going to be a very difficult task I offered to go back and get my car and take him and his suffering cycle to Lockerby. He accepted and when I returned he had some updated news that there was an address in Moffat that we could try.
We loaded up and set off, arrived in Moffat but no repair was possible. Best advice was 'go to Lockerby and get the train to Carlisle'.
I got John, his bike and equipment to Lockerby train station, I wished him well and he thanked me and we parted company.
My big regret is that we never exchanged contact details and I would really like to know if he got the 'repair' in Carlisle and that he safely completed the return journey back home to Tavistock. I estimate that he should arrive home this weekend July 2 and 3.
I wonder if you could run this appeal with my contact details.
