AN excellent 86 competitors, including a contingent from Devon, participated in the Kerrier Junior Open Badminton Tournament last weekend at Camborne School and Community College.

Becky Ward (Yelverton), a member of the Devon Schools' squad, secured the girls U13 singles and was a finalist in the U15 singles, where she was out-pointed by Truro's Natasha Widdison, 15/7.

Girls' U13 doubles (round robin) — winners: Victoria Cornish, Sammy Marquand (both Launceston); 90 points maximum; runners-up: Becky Ward, Tiffany Adair (both Yelverton), 85/90 points.

Girls' U15 singles — Natasha Widdison (Truro) beat Becky Ward (Yelverton), 15/7.

Boys' U15 doubles — final: Dan Mock and Guy Michell beat Stewart Randall and Jonathan Freeman (St Austell, Yelverton) 15/11.
