The number of swimmers from the club that took part this year, having achieved the necessary qualifying times, was the highest number for several years, and reflected the hard work and dedication put in by the swimmers and coaches throughout the year.
Emily Attfield, aged 12, took part in the 100m, 200m and 800m freestyle and finished in 10th place, in the 400m freestyle she finished ninth and 100m breaststroke finished 15th in her age group, while Kieran Rookes (age 14) competed in seven events and gained two first places in 50m and 200m breaststroke, second in the 100m breaststroke, fifth in the 50m backstroke, ninth in the 100m freestyle, 10th in the 200m freestyle, seventh in the 50m Freestyle and fifth in the 100m IM.
In the 15 year age group Cameron McGurk came third in the 50m backstroke, sixth in the 100m freestyle, seventh place in the 50m butterfly and eighth place in the 100m butterfly.
Two 16 year olds took part — Matt Edwards achieved second place in the 1500m freestyle championship final, fifth in the 200m freestyle, eighth in the 50m butterfly, fourth place in the 100m butterfly, second place in the 400m freestyle and fifth in the 100m freestyle.
Kathryn Stacey was fourth place in the 100m freestyle and 100m backstroke. Mike Best reached the championship finals for both events, where he finished third in the 50m and fourth in the 100m breaststroke.
