Okehampton 1st XV 17 Bideford 1st XV 10 IT WAS a must win game for Okehampton, they knew that a win would take them above Bideford. Having lost the toss, Okehampton played down hill the first half, dominating play for 20 minutes, but with no kicker failed to convert four early penalties. Not until more pressure saw Pete Loram beat one man to score from 20 yards. The conversion was missed. The next score came from a chip over from Dave Bickle, only for their player to convert his own try. Bideford then got a late penalty to make it 12-3 at half time. Okehampton started the second half flying, with good ball from the forwards giving to the backs for full back Lee Pengelly to go straight through. He then put the winger away, who was tackled 20 metres out and a quick ruck saw Bruce Griffiths score in the corner. The score stayed the same until Bideford were awarded a suspect penalty try.
