I WOULD like to comment upon the item (Times, March 4) regarding the Foundry at Lakeside Tavistock.

I would like members of public to be aware that the building was not rejected because of an unsympathetic design. The unsympathetic design as described was actually a virtual resubmission of previous planning approvals which had lapsed for the conversion of the building into the same use.

It was only because the planning approval had lapsed that it was resubmitted as a new application and as such Mr Greaves made a request for the building to be listed.

The article is correct in that it does not halt the future redevelopment of the building and as such it will be our intention to resubmit the planning application in the near future. I trust this clarifies the situation.
