CHILDREN, staff and governors at a West Devon primary school were celebrating success after the results of a recent Ofsted report.

Oftsed concluded that Whitchurch Community Primary School is a good school with outstanding elements.

The inspection team recognised the excellent care given to the pupils and the good teaching that ensures children make good progress.

The report commented on the children's behaviour and their outstanding contribution to the life of the school and the wider community.

The headteacher, staff leadership team and the governing body were also recognised for full commitment to the development of the whole child. This was seen in the quality of the curriculum and the use of enrichment activities to enhance children's learning.

Headteacher Angela O'Shea-Warman said she was very proud of the school: 'Whitchurch is a wonderful school, thanks to the enthusiasm of the pupils, the dedication of staff and governors and the commitment of parents to the education of their children.'

Staff and governors are very happy with the report and particularly pleased with the outcome of the visit which lasted two days.
