THERE's grim, very grim then there was Torpoint and Lamerton last Saturday.
Lamerton continued their league programme against a side which had just experienced two heavy defeats and was determined to stem the flood of goals.
Kicking down the slope and with a strong wind behind them, Lamerton dominated play but mainly succeeded in pumping long through-balls into the arms of the Torpoint keeper. The few chances which did occur were either squandered or well saved.
Playing against the wind in the second half Lamerton's performance improved and eventually they got the winning goal when a Rob Tremblett volley was deflected into the net.
Further chances fell to Jimmy Cole and Tony Jones but 1-0 was the final score. The back five looked very solid with Simon Breyley dominant.
