Bodmin Trophies Duchy division 3

Lanreath 0

Mary Tavy 4

THE return of Ian Hunter and inspirational captain Nick Jones to the team made all the difference as he supplied the spark for the engine behind Tavy?s display.

The first half saw the away team create more chances against a weak Lanreath side with only one win behind them this season. The irony was that the home keeper surprisingly enough had little to do other than take a string of goal kicks as Tavy continued to fail to hit the target.

Zorro Philpotts eventually broke the deadlock after Lanreath lost a player through abusive language but the home side were relieved to go in only one goal down.

With two changes at half-time, which included a rest for Dan Brockington, whose efforts were immense in the first half, there was another return from injury. Andy Pedrick, back from his lay off, always looked dangerous, venturing forward down the right side.

Dominic Reeves blasted a second from close range and James Coole saw his effort ruled out by a flagging linesman for an earlier offence. Inside the last ten minutes Tavy added two goals which were both deflected in from the same home defender who gallantly saw the funny side as neither pointed to any fault of his own.

The game was played in good spirits as both teams realised the score could and should have been far superior.
