VOTERS in West Devon and Torridge go to the polls today (Thursday) to elect a new MP. There are five candidates: Peter Christie, Green Party; Geoffrey Cox, Conservative; Matthew Jackson, UK Independence Party; Rebecca Richards, Labour; David Walter, Liberal Democrat. The seat was held by Liberal Democrat John Burnett with a majority of 1,194. He is not seeking re-election. Voting also takes place for seats on Devon County Council. Polling stations are open between 7am and 10pm.
