TRIBUTES have been paid to West Devon Borough Council conservation and design officer Roger Duce, who has died suddenly. He was 62. Roger came to work at the council almost three years ago. An architect by profession, his enthusiasm for design and conservation was boundless and he gave invaluable advice which was widely respected. West Devon Mayor Cllr Dennis Bater said: ?Roger is a sad loss to the council and community at large. His role was a crucial one for West Devon as conservation is so important to keep our area as lovely as it is. He will be sadly missed.? His manager, Ed Persse, said: ?Roger had such a zest for life and a marvellous sense of humour. He was such a gentleman and always had a smile. We will miss him greatly.? During his career he has worked for both the private and public sector. He leaves two adult children, Anthea and Rob.
