Okehampton U15s 10 Barnstaple U15s 12 OKEHAMPTON started well moving the ball wide and stretching the Barnstaple defence. Centres Carl Poynton and Carl Goodall linked well, the forwards recycling the ball for scrum-half Richard Friend to send it back across the pitch. Okehampton should have scored several tries but for dropped passes or wrong options. Barnstaple scored a try from a kick through that was not tidied up. Okehampton came back with good forward pressure, forcing Barnstaple to concede a penalty which Poynton converted for a 3-5 half-time score. After half-time with Okehampton now playing into the bitterly cold wind, there was some good end-to end rugby. Again Okehampton missed a couple of opportunities then Barnstaple charged down a clearance kick to score and convert. Okehampton forwards then drove hard at Barnstaple. Rob Long, Luke Crocker, Scott Simpson and Tom McGratton gained the hard earned yards, Tom Browne standing off and taking the crash ball well and sucking in the Barnstaple defence. The ball was then spun out to the backs for Poynton to score and also convert. The last few minutes Okehampton played some electric rugby but the Barnstaple defence held out for the final whistle.
