THE Friends of the Dartmoor Hill Pony entertained crowds with an energetic display at this year's Devon County Show. Their twelfth year at the show, the Friends — a group set up to support ponies on Dartmoor — brought 23 ponies to the show to take part in the display and raise awareness of the Dartmoor icons. This year's display was 'Medieval Knights of Dartmoor' and youngsters from across Dartmoor helped to put on the show, which involved mounted games, a musical ride and trick riding. Ride leader Georgie Nendick said: 'We do the display because we love Dartmoor and the ponies are such an integral part of the moor. We want to show people that the ponies are good for riding and driving and great for smaller children.' The display team put great effort into the preparation for the show, having practised every week since October.
