THE popular Dartmoor Freewheeler bike bus service is back on track and will run every Sunday until September 30. Dartmoor National Park Authority invites cyclists to bus out onto Dartmoor, with their bicycle secured on a trailer, and then cycle home. This free service started this month and will follow the same four routes as last year: l The first Sunday of each month – Saltram to Princetown l The second Sunday of each month — Newton Abbot to Mardon Down near Moretonhampstead l The third Sunday of each month — Plymouth to Okehampton l The fourth Sunday of each month — Buckfastleigh to Postbridge. On months where there is a fifth Sunday, an extra Saltram to Princetown route will run. The Freewheeler service is open to anyone, from a leisure cyclist to a more experienced club rider. The only restriction is that the wheel rim size must be a minimum of 20 inches. For more information or to pick up a free Dartmoor Freewheeler pack, which includes a booklet and detailed directions, visit Dartmoor National Park Authority's High Moorland Visitor Centre, Princetown or call 01822 890414.
