AN EXHIBITION which celebrates the special character of the farmed land of Dartmoor can be seen at the High Moorland Visitor Centre until September 18.
Nick Atkinson, chief executive of the Dartmoor National Park Authority, said hill farmers continued to be 'a vital part of the local community', and their activities 'maintained landscape beauty and interest and helped to encourage the presence of diverse wildlife'.
Mr Atkinson said: 'The work of the Dartmoor farmer also constantly adds to the quality of our lives through quality of experience as we wander through the landscape and through quality of produce.
'The future of Dartmoor as a National Park is heavily dependent upon a viable and buoyant hill farming economy, about which there is much
present concern.'
'Farming Dartmoor' comprises 21 works in a variety of mediums, including photographic images, paintings, embroidery and sculpture.
In addition, visitors will be able to enjoy a selection of written pieces from the DNPA's Moor Glimpses project.
