Jewson South Western League Cup first round replay
Millbrook 2
Tavistock 3
THE Lambs brought Millbrook's 11-match unbeaten run to an end at Mill Park with a late goal from Danny McTighe to put them into the last eight.
Chris Gott and Chris Kiely were missing through work and injury but Steve Hart introduced new signing, former Argyle apprentice and Dorchester Town player, Jon Nichols to start in midfield.
Millbrook had the majority of the first half with the Lambs giving the ball away too easily. But they were guilty of missed chances with James Gill shooting wide when well placed and Danny Medlin heading over at a corner. They did get on target just once but that was to frighten the life out of the refreshment ladies as the ball flew straight in through the serving hatch.
Against the run of play the Lambs dealt a double blow to the home side with two goals in the last five minutes of the half. Dean Tongue latched onto a mistake in the Millbrook defence at the by line to cut in and lay the ball into the path of Tony Cusack who blasted it into the roof of the net.
Jeff Babb missed a good chance when he headed wide for the home side before former Millbrook striker Lee Cansfield mesmerised his marker on the byline to whip the ball in for John Gosling. The wing-back with his back to goal turned sharply to put the ball under a defender and James Dungey could only help it into the net.
In the start of the second half Millbrook's pressure told on 70 minutes when a cross into the area was only partially cleared off the goal-line and substitute Paul Mildon shot home from six yards.
The Lambs had the ball in the Millbrook net within a minute but Cansfield had drifted offside to head home from a Gosling cross.
Mildon was again on target seven minutes from time when he rose to loop a Darren Reading corner over Andy Meeds.
Millbrook went looking for the winner and were leaving gaps at the back. With extra time looming Tavistock fully exploited it. McTighe picked up a loose ball just inside the Millbrook half, took it onto the area, and sent it into the net to silence the home supporters and put the Lambs into the last eight with a New Year's Day showdown at Langsford Park against Plymouth Parkway.
