THE convenient juxtaposition in last week's Times of Mr

Archie Gall's letter from London, extolling the virtues of

his Boundary Committee's recommendation for a 'unitary'

Devon, and your front page story of yet another attempt

by local people to get rid of the Grenofen Gateway

prompts me to ask whether the very limited devolution,

dangled like a mess of pottage to seduce us into

supporting the takeover proposals, would extend to

powers to get rid of the hated Gateway.

Why do I doubt it?

I predict a deafening silence from the county hierarchy

about the Grenofen Gateway. Meanwhile, my website

http://www.willowby.co.uk">www.willowby.co.uk is fast becoming a one-stop shop for

information to help your readers make up their minds

about Super-Devon and to make them known to the

Boundary Committee. The deadline is September 26.
